ONE ARTIST SHOW - THITZ | Galerie Rothamel Halle 3 Stand J32
ART KARLSRUHE
"Travels are the starting point of the painting of the 1962-born artist. They led him to Brazil, Morocco, Italy, Iceland, Turkey, Norway, Sweden, Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, India, Nepal, South Africa, Korea and to the United States ... He collects artifacts of urban cultures - and what represents a civilization better than shopping bags?
Thitz incorporates them into his urban landscapes, and their handls are transformed into optical Ripcords for the jump from the sober reality into hidden dimensions.
Bags from around the world are played under his cityscapes, in ever new overpaintings he unfolds a fascinating associative braid of intertwined thoughts between bags and painting. The handles break through the canvas. are in the picture, or extend beyond the canvas. Trough this connection, new images are created -beyond an externally visible reality images in which feelings, hunches, tensions and moods are filtered out. The colors begin to shine, thousands of characters populate facades, houses oceans, bodies of water and even the sky.
New York, Paris, Venice - of the highlights of the city architecture we see only props. Thitz 'location references are coded. The artist is not about striking motifs or recognizable city maps. Instead rhythm and ornamental principles ,reflection, repeat, determine the composition. Inconsistent perspective and multidimensional alignment are hallmarks of his images. Thitz 'visions of the metropolis spread explosively over the picture space, without respecting the image boundaries. Thitz is fascinated by the anarchic geometry of expanding cities and the specific Romanticism of modern life.
Now Thitz creates an urban utopia: the city of tomorrow. It is alive as ever, but now the air seems cleaner, the noise moderate. Instead hypertrophied representation of real existing urban chaos, Thitz creates alternative plans, visions of a serene life. "Jörk Rothamel, 2016
The Art Karlsruhe has become the most important "discoverer fair" for collectors and curators in Germany. The almost traditional THITZ one-artist show now stretches over 2 sides of the booth of Gallery Rothamel. At the entrance (at J 32 ) he offers us again a compilation of the latest series and developments of the artist, which are presented here mostly for the first time to a broad public.Thitz paintings are in demand as never before. "Perhaps it plays a role that more and more strongly colored" Urban Art "pictures can be seen at art fairs - and the curators and collectors then focus the originals – like a" real "Thitz" (KA press text 2015).
The ART KARLSRUHE is for Thitz one of the most important exhibition window to present his latest trends and series. After all, the media, as the moderator and art collector Frank Elstner rbb, and S R dedicated Thitz television reports.
For this special show of the artist reserved some of the most important works of the last year. After frequently on the Preview already many red dots were seen, Gallery Owner Jörk Rothamel has also reserved some works for the exhibition storage. The THITZ images in many sizes and designs in this "reserve bunk", we can show you before the weekend already.
A visit at the booth is worthwhile at any time. With some luck you may meet Thitz this year again at the booth, and talk to him about his work. We look forward to seeing you at the booth!
A folder about THITZ will be published at the fair (link to the Folder)
