Thitz Einzelausstellung in der Ausstellungshalle des German House gegenüber UNO
THITZ SOLO EXHIBITION at
871 United Nations Plaza
(1st Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets)
New York, NY 10017
Thitz 17.01.04 - 29.02.04
Born in 1962, German artist Thitz is known far beyond the European borders for his bag projects. Bags from all over the world are the basis of his artistic work.
The exhibition in Grenchen is a continuation of his projects, in which he involves the audience in the exhibition. For about 4 months, bags have been distributed in and around Grenchen, which were painted by the population or otherwise processed. These bag surveys form part of his exhibition at the Kunsthaus. But the real focus is the idea of Thitz 'Tütenwelt. His drawing bag experiences and bag trips are witty and exciting and once again raise the question of the border between art and comics. Within the exhibition program of the Kunsthaus, this exhibition is another part of the annual presentation of one of the three representatives of the artist group "Könige der Herzen" ("Kings of the Hearts"). A catalog accompanies the exhibition.

Big Thitz solo exhibition of more than 80 works in the 2 floors of the stately villa.

Reception: Mrs. Prof. Blanchebarbe Museum Siegen
Thitz's solo exhibition for the 10th anniversary Museum Waiblingen
Thitz has once again occupied the entire museum. Like at the museum Goch in 2000, he subtly responded to the existing objects from the city's historical collection through minor interventions or additions by typical Thitz objects. The way through the museum became a journey of discovery through the Thitz world. From the "paper room" in which the new large paper works and some "bag books" were shown to scroll to the large exhibition space, which is reserved for the new "Cities" series showed Thitz almost exclusively his latest work. All Waiblingen citizens (28,000 households) were given a Thitz bag and asked to bring it to the exhibition in the museum or to send it. So far, the return flow has also been overwhelming. About 300 very beautiful individual bags were issued and are already packed in the notarized sealed box and will be brought out again in 2040. (catalog)

The exhibition in the gallery of the city Wendlingen ended March 25 2001 with a concert of the musical singer Sanni Luis.
The exhibition on 3 floors, from the shoe-shop installation over the walk-in giant bags between large canvas works to the course:
"The Discovery of Europe" broke all visitor records and reached visitors and press far beyond the region. As a result, the Wendlinger bag project also achieved a great result.
The citizens of Wendlingen brought 300 very beautiful individually designed bags in the exhibition. The bags can now be picked up again, along with a "bag diploma" from Thitz.

STUTTGART
Opening with Lothar Späth and Landesschau.
The vernissage of the exhibition on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 began with a comprehensive program.
At the live broadcasting in the SWR Landesschau discussions about the exhibition and the topic "Herzenssache" took place, with the following participants:
Dr. Lothar Späth,
Hermann Möller,
Thitz,
Herzog Carl von Württemberg and
Prof. Peter Voß (director SWR)
This was followed by a 5 min report on the exhibition and Thitz. The well-known SWR moderator Andrea Müller led the evening.
The TV-movie "Künstlerportrait Thitz" (SWR, 6min, director: M.Klug) gave another foretaste of the very brilliant and sensitive laudation by Dr. Ing. Stephan Mann (Head of Museum Goch).
It is one of the largest and hitherto most successful Thitz exhibitions with a total of 100 canvas works, objects, bag pictures.
After the full-page report in the "Sonntag Aktuell" (circulation 1 million) and the repeated announcements in various television programs in Germany, almost 90% of all exhibited works were sold in the end. Including some large screen areas such as "Paris Printemps" (Galerie Neue Kunst), but also framed individual bags such as "fresh fruit"; which went to the TV star Kienzle (Galerie Rothamel). For the exhibition, a Thitz-Bag pin was offered and the proceeds, as well as a share in the sales of the catalogs donated to the "Aktion Herzenssache".

TÜTENWELT (BAG WORLD)
Johanniterkirche, Feldkirch (Österreich) 7.8. - 20.9.2003. (catalogue)
With its many exhibitions and installations by renowned artists, the former church has long been a well-known among the international exhibition venues.
In September 2003, a huge, airy world of bags (7 m diameter) graced the main room of the church. Visitors triggered a hidden blower by their presence, causing the whole installation to begin to move slowly. Likewise, for the first time in 20 years, the earth around the excavation sites could be entered. A viewer who went down a wooden staircase, a "luminous path" which led to the interior of the bag world where the large canvas works of Thitz appeared. When the church room was empty, all the lights and winds came to rest and waited for discovery until the door opened again...
"This is one of Thitz's most beautiful works - which shows once again that one should not reduce the artist to his now well-known painting alone. His artistic conception is much more comprehensive" (curator Eva Jacob)

SOLO SHOW THITZ of new PAINTINGS

Shoes And Bags
The exhibition in the gallery Neuffer am Park in Pirmasens was very successful. Very large picture exhibition in unique rooms.
The citizens of Pirmasens have brought about 300 shoes to the exhibition after a typical Thitz call.
For this they got back one of them - designed and signed by Thitz - back.
Afterwards, the shoes were handed over to the museum in the presence of the Lord Mayor and a notary and are locked there for 50 years.
The exhibition was very well attended - and had best press including 3 television broadcasts (SWR, SR).

Kunst at the Funkhöhe
What does radio have to do with pictures?
Or in other words, why an exhibition in a house where radio is being made?
Quite simply: Pictures are created in the head, usually triggered by acoustic or visual stimuli.
The people who enter the Heinrich Strobel House should feel that culture is an issue here. In this way, it can become a place of encounter, a living engagement with art. Three times a year, we show works by artists on the radio in the broadcasting area of the SWR, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.
I wish for "Kunst auf der Funkhöhe" many interesting encounters in the Heinrich Strobel house.

Exhibition Thitz
Exhibition with 3m diameter globe installation and many bag pictures in the Prof. Ostertag-Bau town hall.
The town hall Schönaich is a generous professor-Ostertag-building with roofed atrium, broad foyer, a somewhat recessed mezzanine and an upper floor with a circulating gallery; therefore, the exhibits can be viewed both near and far.
The town hall is suitable for quite large and small works of art. Especially the bright foyer introduces the visitors to our exhibitions!
