Utopia — “The future is now”
“How do we want to shape our future?” There is hardly anything we seem to need more urgently than utopias - ideas, hopes and plans for how things could continue. Although we now know that everything is connected to everything else and that constructive future shaping can only happen based on this knowledge, this knowledge is not followed by the corresponding conclusions. This results in many types of pessimism, fear and anger, which are discharged impulsively and backwards with the demand for the old situation against the situation that is currently felt to be unbearable. Art and culture come into play here with necessary design processes: thoughts and alternative concepts of the world emerge that broaden the field of vision and open up spaces of possibility. Longings and alternatives are made equally visible. They offer opportunity and potential for the development of new ways of life and structures for a different way of living together that is free from striving for efficiency. Utopia — “The future is now”
“Wie wollen wir unsere Zukunft gestalten?” Kaum etwas scheinen wir derzeit dringender zu benötigen als Utopien - Ideen, Hoffnungen und Pläne, wie es weitergehen könnte. Obwohl wir inzwischen wissen, dass alles mit allem zusammen hängt und konstruktive Zukunftsgestaltung nur aus diesem Wissen heraus geschehen kann, folgen dieser Erkenntnis nicht die entsprechenden Schlüsse. Daraus resultieren viele Arten von Pessimismus, Angst und Wut, die sich impulsiv und rückwärtsgewandt mit der Forderung nach dem alten Zustand gegen die im Momentum unerträglich empfundene Situation entladen. Kunst und Kultur setzen hier mit notwendigen Gestaltung- sprozessen ein: Es entstehen Gedanken und alternative Weltentwürfe, die das Blickfeld weiten und Möglichkeitsräume eröffnen. Sehnsüchte und Alternativen werden gleichermaßen sichtbar gemacht. Sie bieten Anlass und Potenzial zu Entwicklung neuer Lebensweisen und Strukturen für ein anderes, vom Effizienzstreben befreites Zusammenleben. (Ann-Katrin Günzel , KUNSTFORUM 275)
